Sure, dig around enough and you’ll find a coffee professional who dove in immediately to the $500 range, or opted for a bespoke hand grinder, but the exceptions prove the rule. Overwhelmingly baristas opt for this in-home as a launching point for their coffee bars.
Next is Baratza’s commitment to keeping their products out of the landfill. Every piece of this grinder can be purchased independently and replaced. If a part wears out after several years of use, no problem! Purchase that part and swap it out and you’re right back to grinding great coffee.
Finally, the fan base. If you should some day decide to upgrade from your Encore, you’ll find a large community of coffee enthusiasts ready to purchase a used model, and you can subsidize your upgrade with the proceeds!

- 40 grind settings, for everything from French press to moka pot. We do not recommend it as an espresso grinder (try the Fellow Opus or Baratza Encore ESP)
- 40mm conical burrs

- You can also swap this out for a single dose hopper (not included) if you prefer to keep your coffee fresh in a canister
